Music Redacted , presented by Duo FAE (Katherine Petersen, piano and Charlene Kluegel, violin) traces distinct stories of art persisting against suppression: a Polish woman who composed in secret while Nazis occupied her city and then navigated communist censorship for the rest of her career; a Soviet composer whose works exhibiting polystylism, mixing both serious and un-serious material, exist as a critique of the post-war Soviet aesthetic, and America's most celebrated composer, hauled before Senator McCarthy's committee as a suspected enemy of the state.
